Sharing stories that change us.
About
The Centre uses storytelling to grow skills and confidence, inspire understanding and promote community cohesion.
Their work is about more than words. They are led by and empower storytellers and writers whose experiences and perspectives may have been historically disempowered and disenfranchised.
With a focus on cultural diversity, they create opportunities for storytellers and writers who are underrepresented in Western Australia’s creative sector. In sharing their stories with arts and community audiences, they drive social change.
Projects
Funded by Creative Australia’s International Engagement Fund, Centre for Stories will host a delegation of Singaporean writers and arts workers in April 2026. The project involves developing a full suite of professional, artistic, and fundraising activities to support a five-day international visit. Outcomes will include a detailed itinerary, culturally relevant support materials, and coordination documentation for both internal staff and the visiting delegation. The project will also contribute to an edition of Centre for Stories’ in-house literary journal, Portside Review, scheduled for publication in September 2026.
