Doing (Project) KNOTs
Doing (Project) KNOTs differ slightly to the Knowing and Being KNOTs, in that the project work will have a significant time commitment outside collaboratively with peers or experts. A number of Doing KNOTs during timetabled classes will be available to complete as a workshops alongside the project. As a guide, you should attend 1 x Doing KNOT activity per point of the project.
Doing KNOTs generally explore:
- undertaking a collaborative project with peers or experts
- applying what you have learnt in knowing and being KNOTs to a practical problem
- catalysing an idea and testing it in the real world through project-based work
Learning Outcome
All Doing (Project) KNOTs build capacity and map to the course learning outcome:
model the qualities and approaches that support inclusive collaboration for social engagement across difference
Collaborative Projects
The Project is described as a collaborative project. This will likely mean different things, depending on the context of the project. Ideally, there will be collaboration between your peers in the course. It is also acceptable to undertake a collaborative project with partners/experts outside of the course, particularly if you have proposed the project.
Project Size
Projects can be between 2-6 points. If you have a bigger project, please raise it in your Course Pathway Proposal. Only one project is required per course.
Project Completion
Generally, the project completion will include:
- the agreed/requested outputs for the project partner
- completion of the KNOTs to support the project
- a summary presentation sharing the outputs and learning with the project partner
SoCIETIE Doing (Project) KNOTs
The McCusker Institute will run a number of Projects with external and internal partners, based on demand.
As we build our project partners, if you have a great idea for a community organisation to work with, please raise it in class.
Campus Projects
A number of Campus Projects will be scoped as we build the program with friends, partners and opportunistic offerings across campus.
We hope to work with residential halls, clubs and societies to offer projects. If you are working with a residential hall, club or society, please consider helping us to scope projects for future cohorts.
Propose a Project
You may propose your own collaborative project. Ideally, the project will have a significantly collaborative component. Please seek approval for a Proposed Project before commencing the project.
