Students working towards this KNoT are required to complete 3 hours of engagement with any of the following activities:
Get career-ready with four key steps:
Understand your Professional Self
- Discover your strengths through self-assessments and reflection
- Talk to a Careers Consultant to plan your path
- Find opportunities that match your interests and values
- Complete skills modules on Career Central to fill skill gaps
- Understand Industries and Employers
- Explore industries through pathway activities
- Network with professionals and attend events- professional associations, ANU events ,CBRIN
- Interview someone in a job that interests you
Find and Apply for Jobs
- Craft and review your job application
- Talk to a Careers Consultant to discuss job search strategies, to review your tailored job application and get interview tips
- Practice interviewing and improve with feedback
Navigate and Drive Your Career - Manage the transition from study to work, build resilience, and stay focused through change.
- Identify opportunities that align with your goals and values to support your career growth.
- Develop a tailored action plan with clear, achievable steps toward your career success.

This set of pathways will help you explore your career interests, understand different industries, and learn how to find and apply for job opportunities with confidence. You'll also build the skills and resilience needed to smoothly transition from study to work and adapt to future career changes.

Next Steps Once you have done the activities outlined in this KNoT continue the following activities in your university and outside university life to be interesting to employers and to build your employability:
- Make sure you keep networking with people in industries and jobs you are interested in
- Do casual or part time work throughout your degree -aim for office based roles later in your degree if that aligns to your career goals
- Do volunteering- particularly leadership roles in student clubs/societies or in community organisations
- Get involved in student leadership opportunities
- Build your list of referees- from casual work, volunteering, leadership and academics
- Do internships or other WIL options
- Engage with ANU Careers and Employability for career guidance and employer connections
- Stay on Career Central- you have it as a student and alumni- once you graduate change your status by contacting careers@anu.edu.au
How to Complete This KNOT
After completing one of the Core Capabilities, take a screenshot of your career passport showing the events attended, pathways completed, profile and skills modules completed. You will also need to download any reflections and attachments you have uploaded in the pathway when you go into the pathway. You can also use the browser print to print out the particular pathway activity and it will capture the whole page.
The completion for each point should be about one A4 page.
